Founded in 1985, Wafra (Arabic for “abundance”, and an area in South of Kuwait City) Inc. is a New York-based registered investment adviser which is beneficially owned by the Kuwait state pension agency, the Public Institution for Social Security of Kuwait (“PIFSS”). It has an affiliate in New York, Wafra Capital Partners Inc. (WCP), which was previously the Structured Finance and Business Product and Development Division of Wafra Investment Advisory Group Inc. (WIAG) for Shariah-compliant leasing and real estate.
